Celebrating Fathers Day in Gettysburg, What to do?

Fathers Gifts or Mens gifts in Gettysburg PennsylvaniaIt is fathers day this weekend, and while I may be spending a quiet evening at home with my father, maybe cooking his favorite dish (Chicken and Dumplings, Alabama style), there are still a lot of great events and activities around Gettysburg that you could take your spouse or father to for fathers day 🙂  Here are some popular venues:

The Gettysburg Festival – Historic author Jeff Shaara Luncheon on the 15th at the Adams County Ag & Natural Resource Center, or maybe Hunter Hayes concert tonight at 7pm at Memorial Field?  Or how about “The Letterman” concert at the Majestic Theatre on the 15th?  There are many events happening for the festival continuing this weekend.

Author Tom Huntington Book Signing – A popular Gettysburg Author of “Searching for George Gordon Meade: The Forgotten Victor of Gettysburg), Tom Huntington is having a free book signing tonight at “Pages of the Past” bookstore.

57th Annual New Oxford Antique Market & Craft Show – Antiques, homemade crafts, food, and FREE.

Music in the Valley – Featuring Cross Abbey Road, a Beatles cover band at Reids Orchard Winery.

Opening of “Treasures of the Civil War” – An exhibit at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum that focuses on several leaders during the war.  Some of these leaders include Abraham Lincoln, Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, Ulysses S. Grant, and more 🙂  This exhibit opens up  on Sunday June 16th.

The Civil War Broadway Musical – Both Saturday June 15th at 2pm and Sunday June 16th at 7pm at the Gettysburg Community Theatre.

Hauser Estate Winery Fathers Day BBQ – June 16th from 12-5pm take your dad to a pig roast and BBQ.  You also can get two sides of baked beans, steamed corn, potato salad or coleslaw for $12 🙂

Living History Weekend at Gettysburg National Military Park

Picnic Day at Adams County Winery – With blanket and picnic basket in tow, join Adams County Winery on June 16th at 1pm as they fire up the grill and have wine and wine slushees on hand while classic rock and variety music entertains you.

There are also a ton of shops and other attractions in the area (naturally) that you can explore with dad or husband.  Why not get your civil war photo taken at Victorian Photography Studio or take dad out fishing at Cadorus State Park?  There’s too many to list here, but do something creative and memorial with dad this year 🙂
